Jesus promised us a power-filled life!

He said: “Whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” (John‬ ‭14:12-14‬) This amazing promise blows my simple mind! It challenges me to know Him well enough to live in His extraordinary promise of power.

How do we possess God’s power? We must allow Him to be strongly manifested within us. How does this happen? Right after Jesus promised us His power, He gave us the key to have it. He said: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.” (John‬ ‭14:15-17‬)

God’s power comes from God and is not present in us unless He dwells within us. We must not only be born again, we must be surrendered. This is a daily challenge! His presence to work through us is predicated upon our obedience to Him. He is God. His power is good. He doesn’t force His goodness upon us. We must want it enough to invite Him to occupy every space and territory of our heart.

Daily surrender to Him plugs us into the power of the resurrection! (Ephesians 1:19) Through Him, our life becomes a motion picture of the power of His unconditional love and Almighty wisdom. We shine His light in the darkness and become a part of the greatest miracle—changing hearts. Surrendering to Him is a daily, and sometimes hourly decision we make. This—is loving God and is the key to possessing His power.
