God has been challenging me to live as Jesus did, in “grace and truth.” John’s description of Jesus being “full of grace and truth,” and we, as His children, receiving “grace upon grace;” makes me wonder how much of my life reflects the grace which I have received from Him. “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth…For from his fullness we have all received grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” (John‬ 1‬:14, 16-17‬) ‬‬‬‬‬‬

Living truth with grace allows us to humbly confront sin and pride in others because we have received such magnificent grace. Grace lifts us up, not because of who we are, but because His love allows us to see Who He IS. Truth allows us to see who we are, and grace allows us to see how we are loved—despite the truth of our unworthiness.

When I fully acknowledge the grace and truth which I have been given from Christ, I live in much greater humility toward my fellow man.

Compassion replaces scorn and hatred; discipline is given with love; words are chosen more carefully; actions contemplate reactions, etc. It is a complete life changer to live acknowledging that we have received “grace upon grace.” As God continues to teach me the magnitude of His grace, then living in grace and truth becomes my home base of operation. And just like home, it is the place I want to stay, and the place I want to invite others!
