“Fear not! Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” (Joshua 1:9) “Fear not” is a command given by God 364 times in the Bible. It’s the command God gives us more times in the Bible than any other command. Why? Because when we are afraid, we have forgotten God! Fear suffocates us because it is forgetting God, which is like forgetting to breathe: However, God is love and His love casts out fear!

Fear produces worry.

Worry about future problems makes us experience the pain, multiple times in our head instead of just once in real time. Ugghhh! How horrible! For instance, I can worry for three days about what’s going to happen in a court trial; or I can thoroughly prepare and do my job worry-free because I trust God for the result. Or, I can worry for a week about whether I will have enough money to pay all my bills, or I can do my job and ask God to show me how to spend wisely, and then trust Him.

This principle applies to every aspect of life. Do God’s will today and trust Him to take care of tomorrow. God commands us to “fear not” for a good reason; He doesn’t want us living suffocated by our problems. God desires for us to live in the peace and satisfaction of  loving Him.
