How quickly do we forget God’s promises which flow from His love for us? Sometimes when God speaks to me in the morning, I rush off to work and promptly forget what He taught me. I get wrapped up in the issues of the day and forget to remember His Message for my heart and for living the day. It reminds me of what the Bible says when it speaks of losing our first love.

Well, most of us who are over the age of 12 remember what it feels like to “fall in love.” The object of our love is never far from our mind, filling our heart with a soft glow and lighting our face with a smile. Shouldn’t our love relationship with God be even more so—since no lover can love us like He does? The promises of His love are immeasurably better than the greatest of human loves.

He gives us this promise, “You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You. So trust in the Lord forever; for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock.” (Isaiah 26:3-4)

Amazing! Goal: when my mind wanders into the tangled and twisted paths of confusion, anxiety, difficulty, or any unpleasant situation, I can bring my focus to the place of peace and safety, where all His wise answers are found! The more I intentionally and passionately love God, who loves me most, the more He becomes my focal point, and the easier it is to remain in His perfect and unshakable peace!
