Love Greater Than We Can Imagine
The waves of God’s love wash away the scars of betrayal written in the sandy shores of our heart. ~KFaith
When we lose hope—not in God—but in something we have longed and hoped for—it is so easy to fall into complete despair! If it is something we have desired so much that thinking about it and striving for it becomes an integral part of each day—then the pain of disappointment is completely devastating. Hope is crushed. I remember so well how God brought me out of despair by putting my life in perspective with the following verses:
“Behold, You have made my days as [short as] handbreadths, and my lifetime is as nothing in Your sight. Truly every man at his best is merely a breath! Surely every man walks to and fro–like a shadow in a pantomime; surely for futility and emptiness he is in turmoil; each one heaps up riches, not knowing who will gather them. And now, Lord, what do I wait for and expect? My hope and expectation are in You.” (Psalms 39:5-7)
We must hope in what God has for us in the future, and remind ourselves that our best hope is in Him! We must try to place that which we hope in—whether relationship, position, or possession—in the Almighty Hands of God. Thus, we place it in the eternal perspective of His will. That kind of hope will never bring despair! Our days are as short minutes in the vast space of eternity. We should make each day count by living in the eternal Hope He gives…not in the expectation of things that fade away!
