One of my daughters once said, “The great thing about the ocean is that it drowns out all the noise of life.” She was right. As we walked by the ocean that day, we were not distracted by cell phones, computers, social media, etc., and we were able to focus on each other and the majesty of Creation

I spend way too much time focused on man-made objects. For a solid 8 hours a day, I work indoors, surrounded by attention grabbing, man-made equipment. Before and after work, I long to be outside—without my phone! God’s presence in His Creation is a heart re-charge. The Bible says:

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens, God has pitched a tent for the sun. It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.” (Psalms 19: 1-6)

When I’m in Creation, my spirit absorbs God’s presence!!!

When we fall in love with God, our soul and spirit are drawn to Creation in a way we don’t even fully understand. Creation naturally praises God, and our born again spirit also longs to praise God, thus, we feel a deep kinship with Creation. When I’m hiking through the woods or sitting on my back deck—I feel like I’ve joined the Heavenly praise band, “declaring the glory of God!” We all need more moments to experience the peace we find by the ocean—where all of the noise of life is drowned in the great voice of God!
