We never know when God will give us the opportunity to eternally bless someone. Sometimes it’s when we least expect it—or, when we don’t feel like it.  I remember like it was yesterday, when I received a message from my office that a friend had called about a young mother who wanted to give up her baby for adoption—to my brother and his wife. This blessing almost didn’t happen because when I received the message, I almost didn’t return the call because I was in the midst of wallowing in deep pain and self-pity! God mercifully allowed me to see that blessed ray of hope through all my dark clouds. Joy and hope began to emerge as I began to make phone calls.  It still brings tears of joy to my eyes every time I think about the last phone call I made to my brother and sister-in-law. As I gave them the news, I can still hear the barely audible and hopeful voice of my sweet sister-in-law as she whispered, “A baby?” This story always humbles me because I KNOW it was God who awakened me out of my thankless pity and allowed me to be part of God’s channel of blessings.

This experience shook me to the core—what if I’d never followed that ray of hope? It made me want to NEVER miss an opportunity to be part of God’s blessings. God is the source of all blessingsIf I want to be in His stream of blessings, I need to be as close to Him as I can. The Bible says:

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” (James‬ ‭1:17‬)

When I am close to Christ, His blessing flow through me. He gives me His heart and wisdom to sense the needs of those around me. He keeps me “tuned in” to His channel of blessings!
