As I watch the world around me turn from winter to spring, it reminds me that God is the most consistent part of my life. He is in control—and He’s really good at it! The book of Ecclesiastes says:

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away. He hath made everything beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1, 4-6, 11)

Life is full of changes—but God never changes. He brings the seasons to pass, causes the sun to rise and the rain to fall. He holds the world a perfect distance from the sun. God  sets the location of the moon and stars. He controls the mighty ocean and has numbered the sand and the hairs on our head. God gives us breath, beauty, and life.

We are most secure when we cling more tightly to our Creator rather than His Creation.

No matter what changes or upheavals we may be experiencing at this very moment: loss of life or love, change of career, failure—whatever it may be—know that God is constant. If you find yourself insecure, it’s likely you have misplaced your trust in something less than God. When we trust in Him more than anything or anyone, our soul experiences deep peace—even amidst trouble and sorrow. Run to Him, seek Him, love Him—more than anyone else. God is the only one who will never fail us; and when we allow Him to be Lord of our life, we find our most steadfast hope.
