I remember as a teenager having huge plans and constantly thinking of all the ways I could make them happen. It never occurred to me to ask God about the plans He had made for me. Actually, I was afraid to ask Him because I thought His plans would be boring and not as good as mine. Clearly, I had no clue about God’s goodness and wisdom. Unfortunately, I still struggle against Him in this area.

I still tend to go about my life, making MY plans, without any regard for the wisdom and strength my loving Father longs to give me. I plan without Him, forgetting the frailty of my life. The Bible says:

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say,

“If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” (James‬ ‭4:13-15‬)

The most significance I can ever accomplish is to live for God’s glory. His glory is found in His will. Today, as I contemplate what I have planned, I do myself a great disservice if I don’t ask: “Is this what God has planned?”

God has great plans for you: Don’t replace them with yours.
