I hate it when someone lies to me; but if I could hate my own lies with as much passion as I hate the lies of others, I’d discover the love of God on a higher dimension. Right now in my life, my biggest struggle with lying isn’t in the things I say; but rather in the way I live. The Bible says:

“And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily, is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.” (1 John‬ ‭2:3-5‬)

What a challenge! Living inconsistently with God’s Word is living a lie; and when we live a lie, God’s love is not perfected within us and we don’t have the deep realization that we belong to Him. No wonder we lack courage to be everything God created us to be when we’re living our life our own way instead of God’s way! We stand alone against the world instead of having the strength, wisdom and love of our Almighty Father.

The greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart, soul and mind. To do this, we must not have anything in our life that is more important than Him. Otherwise, that thing (or person) is an idol and we’re living a lie by calling ourselves Christians while we worship and serve something or someone else more than God. When we learn to live surrendered to His way, we discover a deep love and security that we never experienced when living in lies. Living in truth allows us to live fearlessly!
