I want security! For most of my life, my security has been rooted in my family, job, success, and possessions. I have chosen to find my security in things which can be destroyed or disappear at any moment instead of my unchanging God! Why, why, why, do I do this???

Better question: HOW do I change this?

When I asked myself this question several years ago, the answer to “trust God” was in my MIND, but it wasn’t the experience of my HEART. It took the experience of trusting God over and over again to develop this into my daily lifestyle. As I strengthen my relationship with God, He becomes more real to me and enlightens me to the truth that He IS my greatest security.

When Jesus walked the earth, he had very few of the things we deem necessary for our security; yet He lived fearlessly. He said: “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? Or, What shall we drink? Or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” (Matthew‬ ‭6:31-34)

When God is our center, we are secure; we are free to live like Jesus did instead of being encumbered by the things we need less than we need God.
