A more perfect knowledge of God is more important to our well-being than our need for Him to change our circumstances. When we grasp this, we learn to live with a higher level of confidence and joy. You may ask: Is obtaining a fuller knowledge of God really more important than Him healing us, rescuing us from financial calamity, making us successful, or giving us friends and family? Yes! But most of us don’t have this perspective because we’ve never understood the critical nature that our relationship with God has to everything else in our life. Thus, we spend the majority of time allowing our immediate needs to crowd out any time we would spend developing a fuller knowledge of Him. We just keep living life thirsty, drinking out of an empty cup instead of dipping our cup in God’s well.

When we pursue a fuller knowledge of God, the powerful sense of His reality allows us to handle both our good and bad circumstances much differently.

When things are good, we don’t become overconfident and spiritually indifferent because God’s presence is ALWAYS our most basic and critical need. Conversely, when we have a deep sense of His presence, and bad circumstances arise, we don’t become discouraged or desperate because the love of God is not just an intellectual acknowledgment; rather, it is our place of deepest and constant consolation.  Therefore, knowing God better should be an absolute priority if want to live well-equipped for all circumstances.

The Bible says: “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.” (Ephesians‬ ‭3:17-19‬) When we spend time with God with a view towards knowing the “breadth, length, depth and height” of His love which “passeth knowledge,” we are filled with the magnificent fullness of God! Search passionately for God and He will equip you for every circumstance.
