Living in the experience of God’s love can be part of our daily life—but do we REALLY want to live in His magnificent love? This love, which poured out itself, even unto death for us, doesn’t just wonderfully secure our eternity—but it can be part of our daily life!  I remember being so in love with a man that even the bad things in my life didn’t seem so terrible. I knew I would be held in his arms, comforted by his love and that he would be strong with me. It’s amazing how we place so much of our heart’s hope in other imperfect people while GOD, who gives PERFECT love, gives us the opportunity to possess His love ALL the time!  What keeps us from taking hold of it? Well, we can’t take hold of God’s love when we’re holding onto something instead of Him.

Jesus called us to “abide in His love.” So, how do we ABIDE in His love? Jesus said:

“As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.” (John‬ ‭15:9-10‬)‬‬

Ah, it’s so simple—but so hard—because to abide in His love means we must yield to God’s way. Why are His rules so hard for us to obey when the promise of abiding in His love is so sweet? Well obviously, we think our way is better! If we thought living by His Word would be better for us, we would do it. The darkness of the world envelops us in the lie that we are wiser than God, and thus, we deprive ourselves of the daily experience of His love.

The experience of God’s love is the most comforting and secure love I’ve ever experienced. Since I’ve had it, I never want to lose it. The struggle against darkness—even the darkness that still lurks in my heart—is real! When I feel myself becoming distant from God’s love, I search my heart to repent from any disobedience that is separating me from Him. He is the greatest lover of my soul.
