When I find myself living like I’m barely surviving, I desperately need to be reminded of God’s precious promises. The Bible says:

“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.” (2 Peter‬ ‭1:3-4‬)

God’s divine power has given us “all things that pertain to life.”

Therefore, everything we need to live our life in God’s “glory and excellence” has been given to us when our spirit is born again. How is this possible? We take on His divine nature and have “escaped from the corruption that is in the world” that is borne of sinful desires.” We are no longer chained.

Why then, are so many Christians failing to live in “divine power?”

Well, many of us choose to return to the decay from which we’ve escaped. We somehow believe that we can live in God’s excellence while we’re clinging to corruption. It’s impossible.

If we want to live victoriously instead of barely surviving, we need to follow God’s way and grasp that “great and precious promise” of His divine nature. How? His excellence is attained by spending time with him—observing, communicating, and studying who He is, what He does, and what He says.

God does not live “barely surviving” and He didn’t create us to live like this either.
