It’s easy to love when it doesn’t cause us any pain, but when it hurts to love—that love means something. That’s why knowing God’s love is so critical in order to love anyone else. He set the standard for sacrificial love by dying for those who crucified Him.

The Bible describes the cost of Christ’s love in Romans: “For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.” (Romans‬ ‭5:7-10‬)

God’s love for us was insanely painful.

It’s impossible for us to comprehend it because we’ve never loved anyone who wronged us to the magnitude that the human race has violated His love. His love is steadfast. It never wavered—all the way through hell. He didn’t go because of His sins…He went for ours. Do you know anyone who regards your life as pricelessly as He does? ‬‬

His love means everything. When we know Him, we gain the ability to love more like He does. The Psalmist described God’s love like this: “Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.” (Psalms 32:10)

To know God’s steadfast love, we must know Him and walk in His ways. His love is worthy of our greatest passion. His love teaches us how to love through the pain. God’s love within us makes our love priceless.
