We do ourselves a great favor if we intentionally and consistently acknowledge our critical need for God. We tend to operate as if we are the center of the universe. When we do—we’re ignoring reality.

The Bible says: “He [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” (Colossians‬ ‭1:15-17‬) He made it all and He keeps it all together. We live in HIS universe. But, most of us don’t even give God the common respect WE would expect from a guest in our home. Our collective cavalier disregard for God, provides a healthy perspective about the absolute magnitude of His mercy!

How long would we tolerate a guest in our home who treated us with the same degree of nonchalance and disrespect that we give God—as we live in HIS world?

The fact is, Almighty God doesn’t just want us to be His guest—He wants us to be His child. When we are adopted into His family by accepting the gift of salvation, we become His heirs. (Romans 8:17)

When we are His children, His Spirit dwells within us, we possess the wisdom of His perspective. However, must be consistently reinforcing our mind and heart to keep God the King of our center. We have a powerful tendency towards egocentricity. When we live with God as the fountain of our life, we discover why we were so empty before we knew Him: We are never sufficient to be our own center.

God is before all things, and in him all things consist. (Colossians 1:17)
