The evil and chaos surrounding us can make us feel helpless—just like the Israelites thought they were when trapped between the Red Sea and the evil Egyptian army; but God rescued them, and—GOD’S POWER HAS NOT CHANGED. When we are  God’s children, He fights for us—just like He did for the Israelites in their time of terror! Moses told the Israelites: “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” God responded, “Tell the people of Israel to go forward [into the Red Sea.]” (Exodus 14:13-15)

What terror are you facing today that is bigger than God?

If you are living in fear because of financial woes or COVID-19, then you must admit you’re thinking God is very small. When crises hits and I become afraid—I have to start here—confessing my fear to God. When we seek Him, God takes us in our weakness—and shows us His strength. Indeed, it is when we REALIZE the extent of our desperate weakness that the door is open for us to also REALIZE how strong God is. (2 Corinthians 12:10) Then, we long to draw closer to Him.

God gives us the courage to walk through the Red Seas of life, and we have a front row seat to we watch Him turn evil upon itself. Just like He did with Israel.

Our response to fear should be to draw close to God and stand firm on His promises—He doesn’t lie. His promises have not changed. Moses told Joshua: “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy‬ ‭31:6‬) This is the God we serve—He will never forsake His children.

As we draw close to God, He gives us fellowship of courage that no evil can stand against; with Him, we can move forward into the Red Seas of life and watch Him part the waters.
