“Oh LORD you are my shepherd; I shall not want. You make me to lie down in green pastures; You lead me beside the still waters. You restore my soul; You lead me in the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in Your house forever.”  (A Prayer based upon Psalms‬ ‭23:1-6‬)

This prayer gives great comfort to us—especially when we KNOW God is our shepherd.

We ALL choose a shepherd, but JESUS is the only really GOOD one. (John 10:: 9-11)

Who is your shepherd? When we make ourselves, the government, or whatever we lean into for security—our shepherd—we are doing ourselves a great disservice. Jesus is the ONLY shepherd who is capable of leading us in the path of peace—even when we’re living in the dark shadow of death. For God’s children—physical death is just a shadow—because our good Shepherd defeated it. (John 10:11)

He knows us; and when we know Him—we follow Him anywhere. (John 10:27)  When we follow Jesus, our “Father of glory [gives us the] the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, [and] the eyes of [our] hearts [are] enlightened, that [we] may know what is the hope to which he has called [us], what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might.” (Ephesians 1:17-19‬) When we know Jesus, we KNOW He is worthy of being our heart’s greatest passion.

As we learn to walk beside God, “in the paths of righteousness,” He enlightens the “eyes of our heart” and we begin to “know the hope for which He has called us.”
