The Greatest Enemy of Our Nation
No enemy can defeat God, and when we’re with Him we have victory. ~KFaith
If we desire to experience effective, powerful prayers, we must also equally desire an intimate relationship with the One we are praying to. He is not a genie in a jug. One of our biggest obstacles to prayer is because we distance ourselves from God.
God is righteous. When our soul and spirit are made righteous by receiving the gift of salvation, through Jesus, we are given the ability to draw close to Him. But—like the prodigal son, we often choose to throw away the benefits of our son-ship and distance ourselves. Our choice to live an unholy life reduces our prayers to whining when we’re in trouble or need something. God offers us so much more—the ability to have deep, loving, intimate conversations with our beloved Heavenly Father.
According to the Bible, what kind of person experiences effective prayers? The Book of James says: “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” (James 5:16) A person who pursues righteousness—pursues God and—learns to pray in God’s will and see his prayers answered! The Bible says: “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we KNOW that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” (1 John 5:14-15)
How do we pray God’s will? Well, it’s impossible without knowing God. The more we seek Him in His Word, the more we experience effective prayer. In fact, when His Word becomes hidden in our heart, it’s naturally integrated into our prayers. The MOST transcendent prayer experiences I have are when I spontaneously pray God’s Word back to Him! The communication reaches a whole deeper level because I’m finally speaking His language. The experience is more captivating than falling in love!
