When we dedicate our time to God, He multiplies our time and abundantly provides for everything we need. As a self-employed person, it’s easy to get wrapped around the axle about money and time because both directly affect my bottom line—if I don’t work, I don’t eat. My time is money. This pressure tends to keep me focused on maximizing the use of my time during business hours—on the singular purpose of working hard to meet my physical needs. And not that we shouldn’t work hard but…

…then, into my office walks a hurting soul…and the Holy Spirit taps my heart and says, “Stop. Listen. Share your time and MY heart—and don’t worry, I’ll take care of everything else.”

When I listen to the Spirit and take the TIME to share His work, wisdom, love and compassion with the hurting person sitting across the desk from me, God’s peace like a river runs through my soul. When I take the TIME to pray with someone who has never heard anyone pray for their soul, I get to be part of some of the most special parts of the lives of my clients. TIME spent caring is an eternal investment which will reap eternal rewards I cannot even begin to fathom. One person. One difference. Love multiplied through eternity. We are NOT promised tomorrow to spend all that money we think we need…and so shouldn’t we think about the ETERNAL tomorrow we ARE promised?

The Bible says: “Now listen, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.’ Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.’” (James 4:13-15‬)

The fact is, God has a splendid plan for our time for today and it’s not difficult for us to figure it out.

Jesus said: “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
(‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:33‬)‬‬

When we take the TIME to listen to the Spirit, we have learned how to find the best plan for our life. We are not promised another day on this earth, but when we are God’s children, we are promised eternity with Him. This is guaranteed. Time invested in HIS plan for today multiplies our investment of time throughout eternity, AND He ALWAYS gives us everything we need for today.
