When we compromise integrity for desire, we abandon the anchor of our heart and our greatest prosperity and joy. Integrity is based on truth. Our desires are often based upon our “feelings” about truth. “Truth” is not what WE make it—it is what the Creator of all—says it is. Is the creature more qualified than the Creator—to define truth? Yet, we allow our feelings, which change based upon our circumstances, to be our interpreter of truth. Truth is the same in ALL circumstances; therefore, truth should ALWAYS be our guide.

When “truth” Is based upon circumstances; anything, even the most terrible actions are justifiable if the wrongdoer has an “honorable” motive. For example, take a popular Netflix show where the father produces crystal meth to support his family and —is presented as a hero—even though he’s facilitating the destruction of other families! It’s a sad reflection on our culture, that this show was, at one time, one of the most popular shows in the country. We need to be on high alert because basically none of us—especially not our children–are safe from even the most warped version of “truth.” When we have wholly abandoned God’s irrefutable truth and replaced it with “truth” which is defined by 6 billion sets of “feelings”we are ALL in deep trouble.

God is truth—in Him alone is the repository of unchanging standards which we can be assured will never change.

Thus, in Him, we know that to compromise living in truth in order to follow our desires—is dangerous. Why? Because God PROMISES to provide for ALL our needs! The Bible says: “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19‬) Living in truth and living close to God are interdependent. We cannot live in truth without being close to God and we cannot live close to God without living in truth. Our greatest desires are fulfilled when we are close to God. Jesus said:

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John‬ 14:6‬)

There is no physical desire worth compromising the integrity that keeps us close to the One who meets our deepest desires.
