Would you like your trouble to “trouble” you—less? Jesus said: “ In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John‬ 16:33) Everywhere we turn, there is trouble—more than we can possibly comprehend or handle on our own. The god of this world constantly wreaks havoc on mankind and seeks to blind us to our most powerful ally—Jesus. The Bible says, “the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (2 Corinthians‬ 4:4)

While this is true for unbelievers—it can also be true for believers!

When Christians choose to be blinded by the empty promises of the world and live loving anything more than loving God, we drift from our source of greatest strength. We are left standing defenseless and naked in the overwhelming deluge of trouble that surrounds us. Trouble is much more troubling when we face it without God. Loving God with all our heart, soul and mind is a daily discipline—but it gives us the perspective to put trouble in its proper place.

As we find the joy in our Heavenly Father, the alluring promises of the world become less attractive because our experience with God is the most real joy we know. To anchor our soul in God is simple—it begins with each choice we make today. Seek Him, talk with Him, yield to Him. In this world we will have trouble, but when we draw close to Jesus, we overcome trouble because—HE has overcome the world!

In God’s presence, we KNOW that trouble is never greater than He is!
