Grace is at its greatest when it’s given to the people who make our lives difficult or miserable because grace doesn’t keep score. When we examine the measure of grace that Holy God has given our sinful soul, we realize no miscreant could abuse our grace more than we abuse God’s grace. We live each day freely partaking of the great generosity of God–life and the benefits and beauty of Creation—yet, we rarely thank Him. In fact, to a large degree we ignore Him.

We live in God’s generosity; but often do not live like He is relevant.

But—we often expect—and even DEMAND—that others show gratitude when we show grace to them. We withhold grace from others and chain ourselves to keeping score. Aren’t you glad God doesn’t keep score with His grace towards us?  Jesus came to earth to embody grace—for us. The Bible says: “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John‬ ‭1:14‬)

Grace is a gift. (Ephesians 4:7) Nothing is owed in return. Nothing was done to earn it. Grace is free to the recipient but given—at a cost to the giver. When it is transferred to the recipient he owns it. Grace is unmerited, but God gives it to us in such abundance that we are enabled to give it to the undeserving—just as He freely gives it to us. When we recognize the great grace of God towards us, we are humbled and we escape from the prison of our pride. We place ourselves in the cradle of grace. The Bible says: “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” (James‬ 4:6)

The Apostle Paul said to the Ephesians church that he was a “stewardship of God’s grace” which was ”given to me for you.” (Ephesians‬ ‭3:2‬)

God bestows His generous grace on us and thus, we can be good stewards of grace to each other.
