Isn’t sin just really a decision to forsake love? I’ve shied away from talking to people about “sin” and “judgment” because it’s always easier to focus on more palatable subjects like God’s love and mercy. But isn’t the essence of “sin” to say we don’t want God‘s presence and the essence of “judgment” for God to give us just that? And, if God is “love” as the Bible says He is, then bottom line is that sin is really about forsaking love.  (1 John 4:8)

When we REALLY discover that “in [God] we live and move and have our being,” we then realize that our worst hell on earth is—to be without Him. (Acts‬ ‭17:28) In a true relationship with God, living without Him becomes as suffocating as living without enough air. We become desperate to eliminate whatever is robbing us of our spiritual oxygen. That’s how we should view sin—like the great thief stealing the life God intended for us and severing us from Him—for eternity. What a dirty devil sin is!

Is this who we want for a master?

God offers us so much more—His presence of love. To hate yourself…is to love sin. To love yourself…is to love God and to hate sin.
