When I start to feel hopeless because of all the craziness going on in the world right now, it’s a good time to re-set my hope—in God. The feeling of hopelessness arises ONLY—when my hope is misplaced in someone or something less than God.

The Bible gives us powerful promises about hoping in God because HE is THE God of hope. The Bible says: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” (Romans‬ ‭15:13‬)‬‬

When we’re close to the God of hope, we ABOUND in hope!

When I begin to feel hopeless, it’s because I’ve not made God the most significant focus for my hope. For example, if I hope to find more love in another human than in God, my hope will be crushed because that person is a frail sinner just like me. Or, if I spend a lifetime placing my hope in my reputation and wealth—one mistake can cause it all to evaporate like mist.

The Psalmist wrote: “Surely a man goes about as a shadow! Surely for nothing, they are in turmoil; man heaps up wealth and does not know who will gather! And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you.” (Psalms 39:6-7‬) God is the only worthy object of our greatest hope.

How do we learn to put our hope in God? We must deliberately and faithfully turn every part of our life over to Him—every day! By entrusting every part of our life to Him, we begin to see Him part the waters and lead us on a path of peace. We recognize that God—not our possessions, position, or tribe—is the surest foundation for everything in our life.

When our greatest hope is in God, the storms of life can sweep everything else away, but we—will ABOUND in hope.

Hope in God; He never fails.
