God’s provision for our eternal security and peace—means we live on earth like we’re in a strong city. When we live in God’s righteous ways, we are filled with peace that comes from living in His care and protection—like living in the safest place on earth. Isaiah wrote: “We have a strong city; He sets up salvation as walls and bulwarks. Open the gates, that the righteous nation that keeps faith may enter in. You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.” (Isaiah‬ ‭26:1b-4‬)

Wouldn’t you love to live in peace, without fear about tomorrow?

The fact is, that when we are God’s children, peace and security are a few of His most amazing gifts to us! When I do NOT feel this strong sense of peace and security, it is for one reason, and only ONE reason alone: I’m living outside the protection of God’s holy presence. There are many streets that lead us outside and they go by names like, “worry,” “fear,” “disobedience,” “selfishness,” “vanity,” “pride,” and essentially—any thought or action that violates God’s holiness.

We don’t have to follow these paths!

God’s gift of salvation has enabled us to live in His righteousness. In fact, not only has He enabled us; He has planted within us an earnest desire to seek His presence! Later in the same chapter, Isaiah writes: “In the path of your judgments, O Lord, we wait for you; your name and remembrance are the desire of our soul. My soul yearns for you in the night; my spirit within me earnestly seeks you. For when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.” (Isaiah‬ ‭26:8-9‬)

Does this characterize your desire to know God?

It should, because—if you’re born again, Christ lives in you and His presence within you means you desire something far better than you did before you knew Him! You have joined what C.S. Lewis calls “the great dance” of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit which have been loving and moving as ONE since before time began. When you know Him, you passionately desire to know and love—as the God-head does.

When we become God’s children, He replaces our heart of stone with a heart like His which desires holiness and—we live in the security and peace of His presence. (Ezekiel 36:22-37)
