God’s children are privy to His wisdom and insight and He makes known to us the mystery of His will. The Bible says:  “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.” (Ephesians‬ ‭1:7-10‬)

Think about that for a minute—wouldn’t you like to know more than just what you can perceive with your earthly senses?

When we have accepted His gift of salvation, our soul and spirit have been made alive and given the ability to perceive knowledge and wisdom that would have otherwise remained unknown to us while we were dead in our sins. We have a living spirit-man who can communicate with God! The veil of our spiritual deadness no longer keeps us from hearing and absorbing the great wisdom He wishes to reveal to us.

It’s interesting that the Bible calls it the “mystery of his WILL” in this passage. Why? Because if we are not walking in God’s will—in other words—according to His commandments—then His mysteries will remain hidden because, although we are born again, we are choosing to dwell in the darkness and blindness from which He rescued us. I did this for 20 years—and some even wondered if I was even born again!

When we love God, we obey His commandments and are brought closer into His presence. Then, in the light of His presence, we are able to walk a path that would otherwise be unthinkable. God replaces our “common” sense with His uncommon omniscience. His presence radically changes our life in a way the world cannot understand—

—Just like Jesus.

Jesus lived out His Father’s will. He said: “For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.” (John‬ 6:38) Although Jesus died a penniless criminal, He lived such an extraordinary life, that people are still following Him more than 2,000 years after His death and resurrection.

Living in God’s will unlocks the remarkable path to His mysteries and a life of eternal significance.
