When the message we carry is empowered by God’s Spirit, we possess the greatest power on earth—the power to persuade a heart to turn to God. But it’s not US doing the persuading and—this should be a relief. I tend to get hung up on thinking it’s my job to persuade people to come to Christ; or, if they are already a believer—to convince them to grow in Christ. But it’s NOT my job! My job is to love God with all my heart and love others as I love myself. This is the ultimate surrender and it gives us the ultimate power.

What do I mean?

The act of loving God and loving others is surrendering ourselves, or, stated another way—placing God first in our life—then we are doing what He wants us to do with our time, love and resources. Our surrender to Him fills us with His Spirit and we desire to serve others with the love we experience with Him. Love is the most powerful force on earth and by it—Jesus conquered our worst enemy—eternal death!

The more we surrender to The Spirit, the more we understand and speak in God’s power, wisdom and love. When the Spirit speaks through us, hearts are moved and it’s clear it has nothing to do with our own wisdom. It’s ALWAYS God’s Spirit—working through our surrendered heart—beckoning needy souls to their Savior.

The Apostle Paul knew that the REAL power of his faith resided in The Spirit. He wrote: “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spiritʼs power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on Godʼs power.” (1 Corinthians 2:4-5)

The power to change hearts resides within the heart of God.
