It always astonishes me how much more wisdom God pours into my MIND—when my HEART is soft and yielded—to Him. When my heart is hard, in other words, I’m living in worry, fear, or disobedience to His Word, then the Bible is just another difficult book to read rather than God’s precious Word and the voice of the Spirit is distant and incomprehensible. The bottom line:

If we want God’s wisdom; we must have His heart.

Because the Jews rejected Christ, Paul said it was like they had a veil over their mind. Paul wrote: “In fact, their minds were grown hard and calloused [they had become dull and had lost the power of understanding]; for until this present day, when the Old Testament is being read, that same veil still lies [on their hearts], not being lifted [to reveal] that in Christ it is made void and done away. Yes, down to this [very] day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies upon their minds and hearts.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭3:14-15‬)

When we reject Christ as Lord and Master of our life—we have the same problem—a veil is placed over our ability to understand God and are unable to comprehend His wisdom. BUT…we don’t have to live this way! In the very next verse, Paul wrote: “But whenever a person turns [in repentance] to the Lord, the veil is stripped off and taken away.” (vs. 16‬) For Christians, repentance is to turn away from sin—which keeps us from being close to God. Our choices matter to God.

Our choices affect our relationship with Him.

Paul went on to write: “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom). And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.” (vs. 17-18)

God is holy. His Word is perfect. When we love His presence and His Word more than we love anything or anyone else, we live in the liberty of truth and we are constantly being transformed to become more Christ-like. Our heart becomes more like His and opens our minds to receive Heavenly wisdom.
