It is our weakness that allows us to fully experience the manifestation of God’s strength. These “weaknesses” may come in many forms–financial hardship, a physical flaw, an unmet need, a physical problem, a sinful tendency, etc., but it is our weaknesses which present us with a magnificent opportunity because in God’s hands, they are like the seeds from which a mighty oak grows.

Attaining God’s strength in our weakness requires us to daily acknowledge God’s grace.

Paul the Apostle wrote: “So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:7-10‬) When we allow our difficulties to consistently lead us to God, we find our life is NOT difficult; rather, we are full of grace, contentment and strength.

Our biggest barrier to successfully handling life’s difficulties is learning to give them to God.

We must know Him well enough to hand them over. We must trust Him more than we trust ourselves or anyone else. As we seek Him, we learn He is very, very trustworthy. Furthermore, His presence transforms us to be more like Him. We never want to go back to who we were. When our greatest weaknesses make us dependent upon God as our greatest Source of strength, we are humbled as we watch Him transform each difficulty into our greatest accomplishments.
