You will never get back yesterday or–even five minutes ago so—don’t you want to have the time of your life? Time is a precious resource because–because when it’s gone–it’s gone forever. We can make more money, but we aren’t EVER guaranteed more time. The Bible says: “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.” (‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:24-25‬) So, what plans do YOU have for the time God has given you today? If today is your last day, what’s on your agenda that really matters?

While there are things we all have to do to survive–the way we do them has a lot to do with whether our time was well spent.

If our time is consumed accomplishing physical goals–bringing home a paycheck, caring for children, cleaning, exercising, entertaining, studying, etc., but is devoid of a higher purpose–then we are simply surviving. We are missing our higher purpose–glorifying our Creator. God gives us the opportunity for our frail flesh to make an eternal mark! The Bible says: “Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:31)

So, what does that look like amidst the grind?

Well, we must gain God’s perspective and assimilate His goals into our life. For example, graduating from law school, winning my first case and building a house were amazing experiences; but today I barely remember law school or my first win in court, and—I no longer live in that house. Out of the thousands of hours I spent accomplishing those goals–how much of that time was assimilated into God’s eternal plan?

I can say without a doubt, that my greatest moments are when God includes me in His work.

Then, for example, my law practice becomes my mission field.  God gives me the opportunity to connect orphaned children with loving parents; to influence addicts to become addicted to Christ; to encourage troubled young people to find God’s purpose for their life, etc. When we know that our time belongs to God, we have the time of our life. When we live for God’s glory, we have the greatest time of our life!

Praise be to God who gives us blessings in heavenly places. (Ephesians 1:3)
