The majority of my clients are seeking legal advice from me when they are in the lowest valley of their life. They are afraid, uncertain, hurt, and—they need assurance that everything is going to be good again. As the Holy Spirit leads, I like to give them the hope of knowing that their legal problems are not that difficult for God.

While I can’t give anyone 100% certainty about the outcome of the legal issue, I CAN give them certainty about how to solve their larger problem–their need to depend on God.

Learning to depend on God is our common struggle—and for most of us—it’s the root of most of other problems.

We were created to glorify God; but instead, we glorify counterfeit gods and they wreak havoc on our life! We become slaves to desires and to people who just want to use us. When we really get to know God and develop a strong sense of His presence, we discover HIS love is extraordinary! He will never betray us, never leave us; and He fills us with power, comfort, peace, love and wisdom.

Then, our common sense dictates that we’re crazy if we don’t choose to live our life completely dependent upon Him!

But this is a daily (sometimes hourly) decision. This healthy perspective is developed by spending time with Him. His Spirit corrects our desires and His Word shapes our thoughts. He opens our eyes and we see His light which has always surrounded us. His Word becomes so personal to us that in our lowest valleys we pray like Isaiah:

“O Lord, be gracious to us; we wait for you. Be our arm every morning, our salvation in the time of trouble. The Lord is exalted, for he dwells on high; he will fill Zion with justice and righteousness, and he will be the stability of your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is Zion’s treasure. For the Lord is our judge; the Lord is our lawgiver; the Lord is our king; he will save us.” (Isaiah‬ ‭33:2, 5-6, 22‬)

When God becomes intensely personal in our life, even in the lowest, darkest valleys we have light and hope.

God becomes our greatest certainty. He infuses us with wisdom, strength, peace, joy and love. He fills each of the deepest desires He created within us. When we have Him, we can give Him away—even when we’re hurting. Alone, we have nothing to give. God is the only certainty we can give others; otherwise, death is their only certainty. In God, we possess light and indestructible hope.
