When we fall in love with God–it is an unforgettable experience. In fact, the experience is so unparalleled, we never want to walk away!

Most of us dream of falling in love with someone who will be the ultimate lover of our heart. You know, someone who—knows what we need before we say a word; plans the best surprises for us; rescues us from danger; takes care of us when we’re sick; thinks we’re adorable even when we roll out of bed, meets all our physical needs, etc. The problem is…we are often severely disappointed by human love and so…we become cynical. By my late 20’s I thought true love was a fairy tale. Why???

Because without God at our center—the search for true love can be disillusioning.

When God becomes the most central part of our existence, meaning, we don’t want to live even one day without a strong sense of His presence, then we begin to be understand how well we are already loved and we are not driven by a desperate NEED in our relationships with others.

~God knows what our body, soul and spirit needs before we do.

~God plans extraordinary surprises for each day.

~God rescues us from danger we don’t even know about.

~God loves us at our ugliest and worst!

God loves us beyond our comprehension of the word.

A verse which has helped me express the experience of falling in love with God is: “In him we live and move and have our being.” (‭Acts‬ ‭17:28‬a)‬‬ Indeed, when I think back about the experience of being in love with a man, I remember how my life, indeed, even my thoughts and who I was–revolved around grasping each precious moment with my lover. I planned for him, hoped for him, rearranged my life for him, conformed who I was for him. I “lived, moved and had my being”–in my earthly lover.

As I’ve discovered the perfection of God’s love, it has, likewise, transformed me. I never want to be without Him. His love causes me to rearrange my schedule so I’m on His schedule. I plan for special time to meet Him alone. I desire to conform my life to please Him. He is the reason for the light in my eyes and the smile on my face. He is the reason I get out of bed in the morning with hope for the new day. I’ve found love that never hurts me and never fails me. God’s love is powerful and compelling. It is in Him that I always want to “live and move and have my being!”

God’s love is the fountain from which all other love flows.
