A.W. Tozer made this remarkable statement in his book, “The Pursuit Of God:”

“It is a solemn thing, and no small scandal in the Kingdom, to see God’s children starving while actually seated at the Father’s table.”

Tozer gives us a great visual of what many experience—that is, teaching and doctrine don’t fill our longing to KNOW God. To become satisfied by God, we must do BOTH! When we do, our heart is so touched by God that we manifest His presence. Our life becomes so extraordinary that we draw people into His presence.

Does this describe your life?

God is the most remarkable being you will ever know; and knowing Him—WILL change you!

The Bible gives us an ides of what a taste of soul-satisfaction looks like in the presence of God:

“As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.” ~King David (Psalms 17:15)

“I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.” ~God (Jeremiah 31:25)

We LEARN God’s righteousness in His WORD; we APPLY it through our RELATIONSHIP with Him and with others.

Then, we don’t just SAY we are satisfied; our lives, in fact, REFLECT it. God created us to be satisfied by Him. When we pursue anything or anyone more than we pursue God, we are as unsatisfied as a hungry baby suckling on an empty bottle. We remain frantically latched-on believing we have found the source of satisfaction but—no matter how hard we try, that empty bottle never fills us!

Thus, we are sitting at the King’s table, surrounded by a great feast and—we’re starving. It’s no wonder so many leave.

But…when we pursue God with all our heart—from both the educational and relational angles, we experience soul-satisfaction. Each day we awaken with a longing for the warmth of His presence and a hunger for His Word.

Knowing God satisfies us like nothing the fallen world can offer.
