Truth frees us and lies imprison us—so—why would we EVER live in a prison of lies? When I’ve chosen to lie OR even to live a lie, it’s been because I’ve been deceived and am afraid of the truth. I feed that fear by conforming my life to the lie, and building a veritable house of lies. Some of the the worst lies are—the ones we tell ourselves. But we also have the devil, who Jesus said was the “father of liars” and the world—feeding us lies as well!

We must silence the false promises of the lies.

Like an alcoholic who thinks she does not have a problem with alcohol, we so often allow lies to define us and write our story. Whether we’re listening to the whispered lies that tell us we are worthless, or we’re lying because we believe it will make our life better—both rob us of the glorious life God intends for us. We are so much better off to have truth reflected in both what we say and how we live. The TRUTH, which never changes—is found ONLY in God—who never changes. Truth reveals lies and releases us to live in freedom. Jesus said:

“If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John‬ ‭8:31-32‬)

God HATES lying because it separates us from Him. (Proverbs 6:16-17) Thus, if we want God’s freedom, we also need to learn to hate lying—lying to others, lying to ourselves, and—living a lie!

Living in truth is beyond wonderful!

Truth draws us closer to God. Truth allows us to stop pretending to be something we are not because God frees us to be exactly the person He made us to be—Wow! We stop struggling so hard to be someone else instead of simply resting in the perfection of who God made us. Truth sets us free from fear and we live transparently—with a clear conscience.

Don’t you want all that goodness???

God wants us to live in the freedom of truth, not the prison or lies! He is our strong fortress. When we’re close to Him, we awaken each morning with the confidence of knowing whatever trials await us—HE will handle it.

Close to God, we gaze upon the peaceful waters of truth and see the purest reflection of reality.

Jesus is THE Truth. (John 14:6) He died so we can LIVE in freedom. When we discover the freedom of living in truth, we RUN from the bondage of lies. When we seek God, then, like Him–we hate lies because we fall in love with the freedom of living in truth!
