Relationships are tough—but we make them even tougher by taking God out of the equation. Something that should be so good instead—robs us of joy—not necessarily because of the ugly actions of the other person in the relationship—but rather, because we don’t know God well enough to let things go. We blame the other person for the destruction to our heart; but often it’s OUR heart that’s in need of God’s healing.

We MUST REALIZE that GOD is the key to all of our best relationships!

What does this mean?

When we’re born again, God places His bottomless reservoir of love within us. The Bible says,

“God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” (Romans‬ ‭5:5)

When seek to know God, we learn the power of true love and—He empowers us to love like He does. God knows each heart, and when we’re close to Him, He gives us a peek inside the heart of others. God is Omniscient, He is Almighty, and His love is powerful. He gives us HIS perspective about ourselves AND about the other person in the relationship. For example, if someone is hateful to us, God enables us to see THEIR pain and insecurity instead of allowing their actions to create pain and insecurity within US.

God removes our focus from the offense so we may move forward to forgive and heal.

When our relationship with God is close and strong, He fills us so full that we don’t need to depend on love from others. When we pursue Him with the passion reserved for the greatest desire of our heart, we discover treasures more valuable than we ever imagined. No one gives us love, joy, peace, wisdom, satisfaction, and power like He does! He is God. There is no Friend who will ever love us like He does. God is the kind of Friend to us that we need to be to each other! Jesus said,

“Love one another as I have loved you.” (John‬ ‭15:12‬b)

The deeper we’re in love with God the less shallow we become, and the greater we learn how to love.
