The more I listen to God, the less my plans fail because when I make
HIS plans—MINE—they NEVER fail.
Our greatest opportunities in life come from God!!!
Following God’s plan doesn’t mean we have less drive or motivation to solve problems or achieve goals; rather, we develop a listening heart for HIS way. He makes our efforts more efficient and effective.
Listening to God is about learning to access His thoughts and ways. He teaches us to set and attain greater goals than anything we could ever imagine. When we listen to God, we LIVE in a path of wisdom far more magnificent than our own. His Word says,
“For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?’ But we have the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:16)
When we become God’s child, we inherit HIS wisdom. He is so very generous with His wisdom! His Word says,
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” (James 1:5)
What a great invitation!
When my plans fail, I need to take a step back and ask God—was this YOUR plan or—was I acting independently of YOU? This is difficult, because when things are falling apart I typically want to scramble and scrape to put it back together.
My failed plans are teaching me an invaluable lesson: Don’t make plans that aren’t God’s plans!!!!
As a practical matter—what does this look like?
Well, I’m still learning, but a huge part of it is dedicating my whole mind, body, soul and everything I have to God at the beginning of each day. When I dedicate all that I am and all that I have to HIM—I’m in full surrender mode. I’m avoiding original sin—which is the desire to live independently from God. This decision places me on the path of peace. It places me inside His plan.
God has NEVER given me any reason to doubt His love for me thus, complete surrender to Him makes total sense.
When I ask for His wisdom, often the first response I get is a calming of my self-willed heart. Then, sometimes God gives me an immediate solution and other times—well, I must simply—wait. Waiting can be hard, but it’s always better than doing the wrong thing. We must realize God knows what we don’t—including—when our plans are a bad idea. In the meantime, if we ask Him for direction–well, He keeps us busy and satisfied with the opportunities right in front of us. There is no greater opportunity which lies before us today than living in the wisdom of God..
We have been given the gift of God’s mind and—when we seek Him FIRST, we discover the incredible plans He made for us before we were born!
