As I walked along the beach praying for the people of Afghanistan this morning, I became overwhelmed at the hopelessness of the situation. The evil of the ruthless Taliban just seems too big for me to wrap my mind around. My prayers kind of felt like this frail sea shell looked in the path of the incoming ocean wave—not very resilient!

I wondered if the prayers of just one woman—even mattered!

God understood my weakness and—He reminded me in 1 Corinthians 1:26-31, about WHO HE empowers to do HIS mighty work.

  • It is NOT those who trust in riches, wisdom, or POWER (guns, weapons, fear, etc.):

In our calling in Christ we see “NOT many wise according to the flesh, NOT many mighty, NOT many noble, are called.”

  • God HAS chosen the ones the enemy will not suspect:

Those the world thinks are foolish and weak. “But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to NOTHING the things that are…

  • WHY does God choose the people the enemy will underestimate?

So we can live in our glorious purpose: “…that no flesh should glory in His presence. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— that, as it is written, ‘He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.’”

If you wonder if you make a difference in the fight against evil—remember—WITH GOD—you are a weapon of warfare that even the Taliban cannot match. Remember Jesus said that all power was given to Him in Heaven and on earth and then—He promised:

“I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew‬ ‭28:18-20‬)

Stand firm in your relationship with Christ—who will never leave you or forsake you and—He will fill you with all the power of Heaven and Earth.
