Do you realize how powerful your testimony of God’s grace is? It may be the most meaningful and powerful story that leads someone to Christ! When we are wiling to share God’s healing of our failures—it can give someone hope to believe that they too—can receive God’s grace. We’ve all been damaged by sin and there’s absolutely no value in pretending that we’re not. To make ourselves vulnerable is to be like Jesus and it is..

His grace that gives us value.

One such story which gave me hope when I thought I was too far mired in sin for God to want me—was King David’s story. David was a child of God, and yet—he had an affair with Bathsheba, got her pregnant, and then sent her husband on a suicide mission designed to kill him so David could have Bathsheba to himself. Unthinkable for a child of God—right??? No—even though our SPIRIT is be born again; our FLESH is never any better than the day we were born.

We’re all capable of the most heinous sins! But—how powerful is the story of transforming grace!

When we’re God’s child, our sin has no power to rob us of salvation, but it can still rob us of God’s presence. This happens when we want sin more than we want God.

How do we get God’s presence back into our life?

Repentance is the bridge between our sin and God’s grace.

In David’s fantastic prayer—which I have also prayed often—he prayed: “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment.” (‭Psalms‬ ‭51:1-4‬)

David knew that only repentance—a complete abhorrence for his sin—would reconcile him to the presence of Holy God. Reconciliation with God through repentance weaves a beautiful tapestry of grace.

Our personal story of grace is the greatest story of our life and—just as David’s story is still helping people come to God…

…our story can change eternity for someone.
