One of my daughters once told me that some of my best devotionals and songs were inspired by my toughest trials. She said that without the trials, I wouldn’t have had the painful human experiences from which to write the story of God’s miraculous power, wisdom, and love. This perspective was a game-changer in my Christian life. No one on this earth will escape heartache and pain—but NONE of us—must walk through any of the evil without God.

We need never forget that God is more powerful than evil and He works it against itself—for good.

The evil of sin and death were borne by Jesus on the cross and conquered by His resurrection—and are absolute proof that evil will NOT win! He built the bridge so we could walk over it and be a part of the most powerful story in the history of the world. Our redemption by Christ empowers our Spirit to become alive and completely righteous.

“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

When trials arise—and they will—the key to victory is learning to turn it all over to God. Turning it over to God does NOT involve meditation on how  wronged you feel, plotting revenge, giving wrongdoers a cold shoulder, becoming fearful, or whatever your default reaction might be. We must let it ALL go! You see…

Our real battle is not in fixing all the mess ourselves; it’s in staying close enough to God to let Him do it.

That’s when we begin to have our own great stories of how love and grace overcome fear and hate! God creates these stories and we get to share them. He is glorified. We fulfill our magnificent purpose. We were created in His image and thus, for His glory. (Genesis 1:26-27) “Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” (Isaiah‬ ‭43:7‬)

When we give God our whole over to heart, He walks us through the trials and writes a powerful story of love and grace.
