What are the most important goals for your life today? Why don’t you get your “to do” list out and think about what items on the list will matter—if today is your last day on earth. Does your analysis change how you will use your time today?

Everything we do in life should be part of the bigger story we were born to write—the story with Christ as the center!

When God is the primary focus of my life—everything I do is ABOUT Him and FOR Him. Even a trip to the grocery store is an opportunity to be “about my Father’s business.” Conversely, when God is NOT on the throne of my heart, my primary goals are nearly 100% focused on temporal matters like—earning money, success, and finding love, taking care of my family, having friends, playing sports and being entertained.

There is nothing wrong with temporal goals, but to pursue them as the ultimate passion in life and give God—only our leftovers—is to miss the much more wonderful story we get to be part of!

Imagine if your favorite movie star offered you a supporting role in one of his movies—wouldn’t you jump at the chance? When we are born again, we are offered a supporting role in HIS story! Wow!

When God is LORD of our life—He writes our goals. Can you think of anyone better to make goals in your life—than God??? What is important to God becomes important to me. He changes my perspective and makes the temporal goals incidental to the magnificent and eternal purpose He has planned for me. He supplies our temporal needs in ways we never imagined so we no longer need to be consumed with them!

It’s amazing!

Also—when we’re in love with God, His wisdom, power and peace make earthly accomplishments easier—after all, He made the earth! He manages our physical survival in ways we could have never imagined. We awake every morning and desire Him above anything. He is the first one we want to talk with because He is our perfect peace, consistent love and absolute joy. Abiding in Him becomes our goal. Jesus said:

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” (John 15:9-11)

If you want the fullest joy possible, the most important goal you can set for today is to love the LORD your God with ALL our heart, soul, and mind!

The Creator has planned great goals for you today!
