When we experience God’s presence, it produces life’s most magnificent moments of our life!
These extraordinary experiences do not manifest themselves the same way for any two people. However, the more surrendered we are to God, the MORE CLEARLY we SEE the very special miracles He has designed just for us. It is so exciting to live in the POWER of God’s presence!
The experience of God’s presence may not be manifested to us like it was to Moses, who—heard God speak from a burning bush; saw God strike the enemies of Israel with plagues, part the Red Sea and burst water from a rock, but—God has not changed! You are just a special to God as he was. Moses words personalize the force of God’s presence from His experience of living in His presence:
“There is none like God, O Jeshurun, who rides through the heavens to your help, through the skies in his majesty. The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. And he thrust out the enemy before you and said, ‘Destroy.’” (Deuteronomy 33:26-27)
Moses aptly described God’s power from the perspective of a lifetime of experiencing it.
There is no single reason we can’t do the same! So…getting down to brass tacks here, ask yourself: “How would YOU describe God’s power in Your life? Are you watching Him work miracles—with you???
If not—why not?
It’s certainly not because God is less powerful today than He was 3,000 years ago!
I’m gonna confess—that for the last year and a half of my Christian life has been LESS powerful than it was before then. Even though I was doing God’s work—it wasn’t MIRACULOUS. HOW do I know this? Because “miracles” are the works I know I could NOT do in my own power. For example—I the music I write and record—is definitely ALL GOD—and I had not written even ONE song during this time. I had drifted away from the power of His presence and replaced Him with the false transcendence of another god—a relationship with another human—that I allowed to steal the throne of my heart. Sure, I was still doing God’s work—but it was in my own power—not HIS.
But—God is sooo merciful and patient with me and—WE are BACK!
You see, to experience God’s power, we must experience God’s presence. To experience God’s presence, we must never let anything or anyone become more important to us than HE is. Our desires are tricky and sneaky—and our feelings and emotions often masquerade as sooo RIGHT they can’t be wrong.
Good things are to be enjoyed—but they must never take the place of God!
We must desire God more than anything else. Then, He becomes our greatest expectation and His power courses freely through us.
I honestly believe that the greatest miracle on earth is when we fully surrender our heart to God.
It is the FIRST miracle we experience. God’s power over the wind and the waves is not so miraculous because they obey Him without question—the human heart is given a choice. But, oh what a splendid gift it is when we surrender! As God fills us, we become empowered with Him and then—we begin to see Him working extraordinary miracles through us!
