WHY do we hurt each other so badly—especially those we love?

It’s because we are ALL more damaged than we realize! We are so damaged by our own sin and the sin of others that—it’s an absolute miracle any of us can ever discover REAL love. But when we allow GOD to love us, and WE SURRENDER to Him and love Him with ALL our heart—we discover the greatest treasure: Pure love!!! And…

…we learn to love others with the kind of enduring, passionate, unfailing love—we ALL desire!

God is the only one Who can completely heal our damaged heart!

When we’re in GOD’s circle of love, we don’t ever want to be without HIM. His love is unparalleled in human experience.

From a very young age, sin begins to damage our heart. Rather than allowing God to heal us, we build layers of scar tissue through—unhealthy relationships, painful break-ups, rejection, belittlement, and generally enslaving ourselves to people [like ourselves] who can never give pure love—without God. We harden our heart. We learn to be cynical, defensive, combative, suspicious, paranoid, ugly, mean, angry and bitter.

We don’t have to live this way!!

Our healing was secured on the cross in the greatest act of love in human history! The gift of salvation is where our healing begins.

“He was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah‬ ‭53:5‬)

When we surrender all whole heart to Christ, we claim His promise:

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalms ‭147:3)

When God’s love heals us, His love in us—enables us—to love our sin-damaged brother:

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter‬ ‭4:8‬)

We can’t love those who hurt us—without God! We must FIRST allow HIM to heal our scars and repair the wreckage in our heart. When we feel any bitterness or other negative emotions towards another person, it’s a sure sign that there’s something WRONG. Our own damaged heart hasn’t healed. God wants to heal us. We must forgive our offenders in order to draw us close to God and be healed.

GOD enables us to love because… He IS love.
