Is my faith in the wrong things keeping me from possessing all the blessings God intends for me?

If my faith is in anything LESS than God, then the answer is “YES!” Because, for our entire life, the world has trained us to put our faith in what is TANGIBLE to our five senses, and so we need God’s help to learn to place our greatest faith in the SUPERNATURAL.

If we ask GOD, He will open our eyes to the unseen.

Most of us work harder at everything that is less important instead of—getting closer to God—who will give us what is most important. Our unbelief in God consistently displaces His power to work in our life. We often SAY we believe—but when we have active faith—our faith is EVIDENCED by what we DO! The Message explains James 2:14-18:

Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it? For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags and half-starved and say, “Good morning, friend! Be clothed in Christ! Be filled with the Holy Spirit!” and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup—where does that get you? Isn’t it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense? I can already hear one of you agreeing by saying, “Sounds good. You take care of the faith department, I’ll handle the works department.” Not so fast. You can no more show me your works apart from your faith than I can show you my faith apart from my works. Faith and works, works and faith, fit together hand in glove. (‭‭James‬ ‭2:14-18‬)

When we have LIVING faith in GOD—our works BOLDLY demonstrate it! Consider the faith of the father of the demon possessed boy. His dialogue with Jesus, as his son was foaming at the mouth, rolling around on the ground and being seized by convulsions, went something like this:

Jesus: “How long has he been like this?”
Father: “From childhood and—it has often thrown him into fire to kill him. But if you
can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”
Jesus: “IF I can???
 Everything is possible for one who believes.”
Father: “I do believe;
Help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:21-24)

Sometimes we have to ASK God to “help” us put our faith into action! In this case, Jesus helped him have faith, and thus engaged the power of God to heal his son. Wow!!!

So, how can we possess such powerful faith?

It begins by becoming close to God. God’s power is not accessible to us—apart from His presence. A close relationship with God grows our faith so we are empowered to BELIEVE we CAN do “all things through Christ” who strengthens us. (Philippians 4:13)
